A super nice late-war M42 enamelled mess kit (Kochgeschirr) with leather strap.
Both component parts remain in excellent, matching condition. Aside from some relatively small areas of loss, the green enamel finish remains superb with a great shine.
The manufacture of this particular variation of M42 mess kit is attributed to the 'Deutsche Emailwarenfabrik' (DEF) - as operated by Oskar Schindler - and so this piece can be considered as an extra special example on this historic basis alone.
A choice item for any collector of German fieldgear and personal equipment!
