Soviet Tokarev SVT-40 sniper scope + mount set
An incredibly rare fully original wartime Tokarev SVT-40 sniper scope rig, including the mount!
This particular example is fresh to the collectors' market having apparently been found during a house clearance in the UK earlier this year.
Quite likely a bring-back, and possibly captured from German hands, who were known to use the SVT-40 - officially designated as the Selbstladegewehr 259(r). The hammer & sickle logo on the scope itself was removed by captors, and the set still retains an original blued / non-refurb finish throughout!
It would have been factory fitted to an SVT-40 made by Tula, during 1941, and falls within the known documented serial number blocks of sniper rifles produced that year. Indeed, such sniper rifles were only produced across 1941-42!
The optics produce a truly excellent, clear image; with both the windage and elevation adjustments also still functional.
It is almost impossible to find examples with the original mount - making this a very special item indeed and one which would be a highlight within any collection!
