MG34/42 tan camouflage ammo box '1940'
A superb tropical tan camouflage MG34/42 ammo box. This steel Patronenkasten 34 model box clearly started out life in the standard field grey over a red oxide primer - before this was later overpainted in the camo scheme. Given the combat use this tin has subsequently gone on to see, the associated wear has nicely exposed parts of each of these layers.
The box is maker marked/dated '1940' and Waffenamt marked to the top of the lid. In addition, the field-applied MG serial number (9369) can be found exposed to one of the ends, as well as being visible beneath the tan paint on top of the lid, as shown.
Both the closure mechanism and all of the handles still operate as they should, and these also retain all of the original leather handle covers.
A superb combat veteran and certainly one of the best tropical camo MG tins we have ever encountered!
